Not to worry

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

In the morning we were headed up into a valley that had been full of elk for a few days.  There wad very little water in the valley and elk would be around that water.  I was excited about the possibility of a great morning.

Just we went to bed the storms rolled in and poured rain all night.  What was promising morning of fantastic hunting, was going to be a hard hunt.  The worst news was that I had gotten my hunters overly excited at dinner... now it was likely to be a rough hunt.  I was distressed and anxious.

In today's world is it possible to be anxious about nothing?  With the draws on the family, finances, relationships etc... how can we possibly give up on all of our "desire" to hold on to our stress?

Like most every sin in our lives we allow stress and worry to take over our lives.  We sometimes feel justified in worrying over things that quite often we have absolutely NO control over.  We feel like we can somehow accomplish something just by holding it in ourselves.  We are wrong...
Verse 6 says "Don't be anxious about anything" and then "present your requests to God"...  Verse 7 answers with a promise, "God will guard your heart and mind".  Don't hold back, "present your requests" and do it with confidence.

If every time we start to stress we concentrate on these verses, there is nothing that can't be overcome with God "guarding our hearts"
